Welcome To Tassajara
Tassajara Cellars is a small family owned winery in Paso Robles specializing in Rhone Varieties. The first release in 1999 received stellar reviews. Tassajara Cellars is named for the tallest mountain in the Santa Lucia Range, which protects Paso Robles from the Pacific Ocean. The word Tassajara is Spanish American for "place where meat is hung to dry."
In by gone days, the Indians in the area used the location for curing meat and soaking in the springs. The philosophy for making wine at Tassajara is simple, "balance". The wines are harvested when the fruit tastes its best, and in Paso Robles that means full maturity.
